Within the project, it is planned to supply equipment for underground and surface works, transports means and other equipment. The project will allow to increase coal extraction twice to 200,000 tonnes.
Russia’s Zapodno-Ural Machinery Concern CJSC, PO Gormash LLC, Anjeromash OJSC, Krasnogvardeyskiy Kranoviy Zavod OJSC won tender on supply of the equipment.
Uzbekugol OJSC is planning to realize the second phase of Shargunkomir OJSC, which envisages to increase coal extraction to 400,000 tonnes a year.
It is planned that the project will be financed due to loan of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, resources of Uzbekugol and shareholders of Shargunkomir.
British consortium SAB Energy, Shadella Inc. and M. Metal&Co own 41.57% share in Shargunkomir, while the government holds 51% stake and labour collective – 7.43%. Total explored reserves of Baisun and Shargun coal fields makes up 45.8 million tonnes of coal.
Uzbekistan increased coal extraction by 1.4% year-on-year to 3.654 million tonnes in 2009. Production of brown coal grew by 1.8% to 3.556 million tonnes and coal output dell by 10.8% to 98,200 tonnes.
