It was noted that number of served foreign and local tourists in 2011 exceeded 1 million people and tourism enterprises served 463,400 foreign tourists. At the same time, the growth made up 5.4% year-on-year. In 2011, over 1 million foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan.
Total volume of rendered tourism services grew by 8.3% year-on-year in 2011 due to implementation of measures on development of entrepreneurship activity in tourism sector.
The forecast on tourism services exports was fulfilled with 12% surplus. The figure grew by 27.8% compared to 2010.
The meeting noted that some 124 organizations received licenses for rendering tourism services in Uzbekistan, of which 55 received licenses to render hotel services.
Currently, number of tourism organizations in Uzbekistan makes up 828, of which 510 operate as tour operators and 318 render hotel services.
It was said that 580 representatives of tourism organizations and 46 representatives of mass media from 36 countries visited Uzbekistan within Mega-Info-Tour project. It is expected that number of tourists will grow by 15% in 2012 due to implementation of Mega-Info-Tour project.
The meeting said that Uzbekistan will continue to implement programmes on targeted measures on development of tourism and increasing export potential of tourism services in all regions for 2011-2012.
In line with the programme, it is planned to commission 77 hotels and similar establishments, 90 tourism objects, 70 tourism service objects, and purchase 53 buses and micro-buses in 2012.
