Uzbektelecom to expand Wi-Fi network across Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbektelecom is planning to expand Wi-Fi network in all territory of Uzbekistan, the press service of national telecommunication operator of Uzbekistan said.

The company recalled that it launched a test Wi-Fi zone in Ichan Kala historic city-museum (Khorezm region) in 2014.

After text exploitation, in order to create favourable conditions for guests and citizens of Uzbekistan, the company launched Wi-Fi network for commercial use in historic and cultural heritage objects, tourism zones, hotels, airports and railway stations of Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions.

Currently, the Wi-Fi zone of Uzbektelecom covers 27 objects in these regions. The company also issued payment cards for the service.

It is worth to mention that the subscribers, who bought card in Khiva, for example, can use it in Termez, Karshi or Shahrisabz, where Wi-Fi zone of Uzbektelecom exists.

The default internet speed is up to 4 Mbps. The price of the cards is from 4,500 to 25,000 soums and included traffic – from 150 to 2,500 Mb. The cards are valid for 30 days.

In 2015 and 2016, Uzbektelecom, Ministry for development of technologies and communication of Uzbekistan and Uzbektourism are planning to launch new Wi-Fi zones in Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent.

Overall, 40 objects of historic and cultural heritage, as well as tourism sites of Uzbekistan will be covered with Wi-Fi zone of Uzbektelecom. In future, the company plans to cover all Uzbekistan with its Wi-Fi network.
