Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekiston Temir Yullari has received a new electric train from Russia, which will operate on suburban routes from Tashkent. This was announced by the company’s chairman, Zufar Narzullaev, in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
According to Narzullaev, “The intercity electric train delivered from the Russian Federation will serve the people on Uzbekistan’s railroads.” He also stated that instructions have been given to deploy the train to serve passengers.
The electric train is manufactured by the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant (Moscow Region) and has been in production since 2016.
As part of the development of railway transport, in the summer of 2022, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the launch of modern high-speed electric trains connecting Tashkent with Khodjikent, Bekabad, and Angren.
During a presentation to the President, it was noted that the current train fleet is outdated and struggling to accommodate the increasing passenger traffic.
