According to the company, it launched implementation of the investment project “Updating fleet of passenger locomotives” in support of the government. The programme envisages to purchase 15 passenger electricity locomotives.

The project implementation will allow to cut travel time of passengers due to increasing speed of movement of trains from 100 to 160 km per hour and will raise attractiveness of railway communication compared to other transport means.

The company said that it reached agreement with Chinese consortium CNTIC-CNRDLRC in December 2011 to buy 11 cargo locomotives. The sum of deal is not disclosed.

Uzbekiston Temir Yollari also launched serial production of passenger and cargo wagons. Among them wagons with air conditioners, the most demanded cargo wagons.

In line with the programme on speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction for 2011-2015, Uzbekiston Temir Yollari will buy 28 locomotives for US$94.9 million. At the same time, Uzbekiston Temir Yollari will invest US$28 million of own resources and attract loan of Chinese Eximbank for US$94.9 million.
