Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - In the city of Lisieux in the French region of Normandy, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in France organized the event "One Day in Uzbekistan, Dunyo reports.
The event was attended by representatives of official, scientific and cultural-humanitarian circles, students and the public of the city.
During the event, Frederic Bayyol, a professor at the University of Asia, an expert on geopolitics and an expert on Asian countries, made a presentation on the place and role of Uzbekistan on the Great Silk Road, which had an impact on entire civilizations. In his opinion, this is what prompts people to study his history more deeply, to open up new facets.
- The ancient cities of Uzbekistan played an important role on the transcontinental artery between East and West. A number of documents and artifacts of that period allow us to state that it was here, through present-day Uzbekistan, that the key routes of the global trading network passed. The Great Silk Road was of great importance for its era. The convenient geographical position contributed to the fact that Central Asia, in particular Uzbekistan, became the epicenter of the most important ethnic processes - migration of peoples, active interaction of cultures,” the professor emphasized.
Within the framework of the event, a presentation was made of the modern development of Uzbekistan, the tourist potential of our country, and measures taken to develop the tourism industry and modern tourism infrastructure.
Videos dedicated to the cultural, historical and tourist potential of Uzbekistan, as well as a photo exhibition about our country, made it possible for the audience to get acquainted with the rich historical and cultural heritage of the country, its applied art and traditions of the Uzbek people.
The event ended with the screening of the film by Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa "At World’s End", which was shot in Uzbekistan.
Verjne Gisel, President of the University of Inter-as:
- The event has become very informative for the youth and residents of Lisieux. They were able to learn about the ancient history and modernity of Uzbekistan. We got acquainted with those development priorities that are determined by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the current stage of reforms. In particular, we consider the announcement of the current year in Uzbekistan as the Year of the Development of Science, Education and the Digital Economy as a wise decision aimed at progressive development.
Marcel Tellek, Head of the International Department of the University:
- In May 2020, we plan to send 20 students to our university to Uzbekistan. We are interested in seeing a country that is geographically located in the heart of the continent. The presentation became very interesting and informative, it revealed all the attractiveness of Uzbekistan as a country with a rich history and dynamic modern development. Our listeners are looking forward to a trip to a country where they hope to see all the delights of the East.
