Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Dilshod Akhatov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan residing in Berlin, presented his credentials to the President of Switzerland, Viola Amherd on 26 October, Dunyo news agency reported.
During their conversation following the formal ceremony, the President of Switzerland noted that bilateral relations between the two countries have significantly intensified recently. She emphasized that the Swiss government fully supports the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan.
The head of state also highlighted that the economies of Switzerland and Uzbekistan have great potential for further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. In particular, Switzerland is ready to collaborate in areas such as the development of mineral resources, the implementation of a "green" economy and energy initiatives, water and energy-saving technologies, as well as addressing the consequences of climate change and environmental issues. Additionally, the introduction of the Swiss dual education model in vocational training systems was discussed.
President Viola Amherd wished success and prosperity to the people and leadership of Uzbekistan.
It is worth recalling that in October 2023, Dilshod Akhatov, as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Germany, presented his credentials to Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Before his appointment in Berlin, Dilshod Akhatov served as the head of the Uzbek Embassy in India from 2020 to 2023. Previously, from 2010 to 2013, he was Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Germany and represented the country in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Spain.
