Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments Meets with Deputy Speaker of Malaysia’s Parliament

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 28 October, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held talks with Nur Jazlan Mohamed, the Deputy Speaker of Malaysia’s Upper House, who is in Uzbekistan as an observer for the parliamentary elections.

During the meeting, Kudratov highlighted the positive trajectory of Uzbek-Malaysian relations in recent years. Uzbekistan has expanded its exports of services, chemicals, and food products to Malaysia. Additionally, the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has established a representative office within Malaysia’s embassy in Tashkent, and 37 Malaysian-capital enterprises are currently operating in Uzbekistan.

Both parties agreed on the need for significantly expanding the scale of cooperation and utilizing the available potential. New, promising areas for the development of bilateral trade and economic relations were discussed, and measures were agreed upon to activate existing agreements, including establishing an "Uzbek-Malaysian Industrial Zone" for joint projects with leading Malaysian manufacturers.

The meeting concluded with a structured approach for further cooperation, assigning responsible parties on both sides and setting specific timelines for implementing the discussed projects and initiatives.
