Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has passed a draft law titled "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Further Strengthen Regulations on the Circulation of Certain Types of Tobacco Products, Devices for Tobacco and Nicotine Consumption."
The new legislation prohibits the circulation (including production, manufacturing, storage, transportation, import, and export) of electronic nicotine delivery systems, such as e-cigarettes and related liquids.
Additionally, the law introduces penalties for offenses related to the illegal circulation of smokeless tobacco products and nicotine consumption devices, including e-cigarettes.
During the preparation of the draft for the second reading, deputies’ proposals were taken into account, and the document was refined accordingly.
Lawmakers emphasized that adopting this legislation will help protect public health, preserve the nation’s gene pool, and safeguard the environment from the harmful effects of emerging tobacco and nicotine products.
The draft law was approved during its third reading.
