Uzbekistan's holiday takes place in Omsk
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A solemn event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day was held in Omsk, Russia, on 16 October 2011, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia said.

Representatives of the Government of Omsk region and city, heads of national diasporas in the region, as well as the Uzbek Diaspora participated at the event.

The event included concert, which presented songs about Uzbekistan, classic and modern music, the Uzbek national songs and dances. The participants also had chance to taste Uzbek cuisine. The event also included exhibitions of photos and paintings.

Deputy Culture Minister of Omsk region Ivan Shein said that such events help Omsk citizens and guests to familiarize with modern Uzbekistan on rich culture and ancient history.

It is worth to mention that Uzbekistan is one of main trade partners of Omsk region. Omsk exports caoutchouc, rubber and rubber products, metal goods, organic chemical products, dairy products, timber, paper and plastics to Uzbekistan. Main import items from Uzbekistan are vegetables, fruits, textile products.

The event was organized at the assistance of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk city, Fund Forum and Jahon news agency.
