Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Asilbek Khudayarov, met with a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), led by its Director General Rafael Grossi.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that Uzbekistan has been actively collaborating with the agency in recent years in the field of nuclear medicine. Key areas of cooperation include improving radiation protection standards in medical radiological exposure, modernizing radiotherapy equipment, enhancing diagnostic radiology quality, and training specialists.
To date, the IAEA has provided Uzbekistan with medical equipment valued at $8 million.
Under a new four-year joint project, Uzbek healthcare professionals specializing in nuclear medicine will receive training abroad.
Additionally, with the agency’s support, Uzbekistan plans to launch clinical activities in nuclear medicine. This initiative will introduce advanced diagnostic and treatment methods, not only in oncology but also in cardiology, hepatology, pulmonology, and traumatology, creating new opportunities for patient care.
