Uzbekistan’s GDP increases by 8.5% in 2010 – President Islam Karimov
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Economy of Uzbekistan grew by 8.5% in 2010, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said in his New Year congratulation to people of the country.

President Islam Karimov underlined that despite great, sometimes huge difficulties and ordeals, which experienced people of Uzbekistan, 2010 became successful and fruitful for the country.

Uzbek leader noted that all liabilities on production of wheat, cotton and other agriculture products were fulfilled. He added that economy of Uzbekistan grew by 8.5% in 2010, when global financial-economic crisis had influence.

Islam Karimov said that the state budget of Uzbekistan was executed with 0.3% surplus to the gross regional product (GDP).

Uzbek President said that real incomes of population of Uzbekistan increased by 23.5% and the size of salaries, pensions, stipends and social allowances grew by 32% in 2010.

President said that 2011, which was announced as the Year of small and private business in Uzbekistan, undoubtedly, will be new important step in further progress of Uzbekistan.

In New Year, it is planned to make all necessary for ensuring sustainable, not less than in 2010, growth of economy, its modernization and re-equipment, he said. Karimov said the country will continue gradual policy on raising life standards and well-being of population in the country.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov said that about 60% of the state budget will be directed to development of social sector in 2011. He added that the government will increase spending to healthcare, culture, education.

Islam Karimov underlined that Uzbekistan plans to increase salaries, pensions, stipends and allowances at least by 25% in 2011.
