Uzbekistan’s GDP increases by 7.6% in Jan-Mar 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Economy of Uzbekistan grew by 7.6% in the first quarter of 2010, the Government of Uzbekistan said in a statement on 16 April.

Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan held a session on 16 April to discuss social-economic development of Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2010.

Industrial output of Uzbekistan rose by 7% and production of consumer goods increased by 8.9%, while agriculture output grew by 6.1%. The services increased by 6.1% and constriction works – 20.1%.

State Budget of Uzbekistan was implemented with 0.2% surplus to gross domestic product (GDP), while inflation did not exceeded forecast figures.

The export volume of Uzbekistan rose by 22.1% in the reporting and significant current account balance surplus was achieved.

In the first quarter of 2010, the volume of foreign direct investments rose by 2.65 times year-on-year. The country completed implementation of 29 projects on modernization of capacities and 118 new enterprises were introduced.

During the reporting period, about 215,400 new workplaces were created in Uzbekistan, of which 150,100 or 70% in rural areas. The country created 53,100 outworks in the first three months of 2010.

Uzbekistan directed 1.4 trillion soums and US$25.4 million to implementation of the State proigramme “The Year of Harmonically Developed Generation” in January-March 2010.
