Uzbekistan’s GDP grows by 6.4% in the first half of 2024 - President

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that Uzbekistan’s GDP grew by 6.4% in the first half of 2024.

During a meeting on 17 July, the president outlined key economic indicators for the first six months of the year. Industrial growth reached 7.8%, construction grew by 10.1%, the services sector expanded by 12.9%, and agriculture increased by 3.8%.

Budget revenues increased by 14% reaching 113 trillion soums. The total value added created since the beginning of the year amounted to 567.4 trillion soums, which is 94 trillion soums more than the same period last year.

The total capital inflow in the first half of the year amounted to 229 trillion soums, including US$15.5 billion in foreign investments. A total of 3,000 projects worth US$3.5 billion were launched since the beginning of the year, creating 76,000 high-income permanent jobs.

The president noted that 82 trillion soums in loans and 15.5 trillion soums in subsidies were allocated to support entrepreneurship, involving 600,000 people in business. Due to these incentives, entrepreneurs managed to preserve 56.3 trillion soums.

An amount of 31.5 trillion soums has been allocated from the budget for infrastructure improvement, including kindergartens, schools, medical institutions, roads, water, and electricity supply, with an additional 1.5 trillion soums planned.

Since the beginning of the year, 18,600 new apartments have been built and put into operation. Over the last six months, 26,000 families received mortgage loans totaling around 7 trillion soums. Subsidies totaling 545 billion soums were provided for down payments and interest coverage.
