Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover falls by 4.4% in 1Q 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan foreign trade turnover decreased by 4.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2010 and reached US$4.321 billion.

Foreign trade turnover slipped due to decrease of Uzbekistan’s exports to the CIS states and imports, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said.

Trade turnover of Uzbekistan with the CIS states made up US$1.399 billion in January-March 2010, which is 32.8% less compared to the same period of 2009. Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover grew by 20% to US$2.922 billion with non-CIS states.

Share of the CIS states in structure of the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan made up 32.4% and non-CIS states – 67.6%, the committee said.

Exports of Uzbekistan rose by 22.1% year-on-year to US$2.701 billion in the reporting period. While, exports of Uzbekistan to the CIS countries fell by 33% to US$767.8 million and non-CIS states rose by 81.1% to US$1.933 billion.

Uzbekistan’s imports fell by 29.2% year-on-year to US$1.62 billion in January-March 2010. Imports to the CIS states was US$631.3 million (-32.7%) and non-CIS countries – US$988.8 million (-27.7%).

Current account balance surplus comprised US$1.081 billion in January-March 2010, including US$136.5 million with the CIS countries and US$944.7 million with the non-CIS states.
