Uzbekistan’s First Ambassador to San Marino presents credentials
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The first ambassador of Uzbekistan to San Marino, based in Rome, Abat Fayzulayev, presented his credentials to Captains Regent Francesco Civerkya and Daliboru Riccardi, according to Dunyo news agency.
At the ceremony, San Marino’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, delivered remarks welcoming the newly accredited ambassadors. In his address, he highlighted the significance of the sweeping economic and democratic reforms taking place in Uzbekistan and emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral dialogue, including the appointment of Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to San Marino. The minister also expressed his support for Uzbekistan’s policies in addressing climate and environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
Both sides expressed confidence in the further development of trade and economic cooperation, the strengthening of the legal framework, and mutual support for candidates in international organizations such as the United Nations and the OSCE. It was noted that the San Marino delegation will actively participate in international events scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan in 2025.
Uzbekistan and San Marino established diplomatic relations on February 3, 2021.
Abat Fayzulayev has served as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Italy and permanent representative to international organizations in Rome (FAO, WHO, UNIDO) since November 2023.
In December 2024, he was appointed as the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Cyprus, and in March 2025, as the first ambassador to Malta. Previously, from 2020 to 2023, he held the position of Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Austria and Hungary, and also represented the country in the OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna.
