Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 30 September 2024, Uzbekistan’s external debt reached US$60.2 billion, according to the Central Bank’s report on the balance of payments, international investment position, and external debt for the first nine months of the year.
Of the total external debt, US$32.5 billion is attributable to government debt, while US$27.7 billion is corporate debt. Since the beginning of 2024, the country’s external debt has increased by US$7.2 billion.
For comparison, at the end of 2023, the external debt stood at US$53 billion, with US$29.7 billion representing government debt and US$23.3 billion corporate debt.
It is important to note that over the past two years, corporate external debt has been the main driver behind the accelerated growth of Uzbekistan’s total external debt.
