Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has signed a decree titled “On Enhancing the Effectiveness of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation.”
The document aims to improve the performance of Uzbekistan’s Embassy in the Russian Federation.
As part of the decree, a new position will be introduced at the Embassy — the First Secretary, representing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The main responsibilities of the new representative include strengthening cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and Russia based on mutual trust and recognized international norms and principles.
The representative will also be responsible for developing and preparing proposals aimed at improving cooperation in the fight against crime and ensuring public safety between the two countries. Additionally, they will support the expansion of international cooperation in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbek citizens.
Other tasks will include enhancing practical cooperation in areas such as combating organized crime, terrorism, extremism, human trafficking, illegal migration, and other crimes, as well as facilitating criminal investigations and the exchange of operational information between law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan and Russia.
The representative will also assist in performing consular functions to protect the rights of Uzbek citizens and handle complaints from individuals and legal entities related to crime, ffenses, human trafficking, and illegal migration, in accordance with the laws of Uzbekistan.
