Uzbekistan’s election body approves programme on holding parliament elections
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan with its resolution approved a programme of measures on preparing and holding elections in the parliament, as well as regional, district and city Councils of People’s Deputies in 2014.
The programme envisages measures on ensuring transparency and openness at all stages of the election campaign, implementing all preparatory work and organization of the electoral process in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the parliamentary elections will be held on the first Sunday of the third decade of December 2014.
According to the Constitution, 135 MPs are elected to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan directly receives 15 seats in the lower house of the parliament.
