Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Istanbul Assists Citizen in Returning Home
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported a case involving a young woman from Samarkand Region who fell victim to deception while attempting to secure employment abroad.
According to the diplomatic mission, the woman, finding herself in a difficult personal situation, trusted promises of a high-paying job in Türkiye. A resident of Istanbul, claiming to be an entrepreneur, brought her to the country without a work visa, confiscated her passport, and attempted to force her into labor under harsh conditions.
“Following the consulate’s appeal, operational measures were undertaken jointly with the Migration Agency’s representation in Türkiye. As a result, our compatriot was safely returned to her homeland. Information regarding the individual who made false promises has been forwarded to Turkish law enforcement authorities,” the Consulate General stated.
The mission also urged citizens not to trust promises of “easy money” abroad, not to put their lives and safety at risk, and to remember that the state is ready to provide consular and legal assistance to its citizens.
