Uzbekistan’s boxers win eight medals at the Strandja tournament in Bulgaria
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan national boxing team delivered an impressive performance at the 76th Strandja International Tournament, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, securing a total of eight medals.
In the 92 kg category, Turabek Khabibullaev defeated Greece’s Vagkan Nanitzanian to claim the gold medal.
Shakhzod Muzaffarov emerged as the champion in the 54 kg division after overcoming Timur Kabdeshov from Kazakhstan, while Khuzhanazar Nortozhiev clinched the gold in the 57 kg category with a victory over Azerbaijan’s Zalimkhan Suleymanov in the final bout.
Another gold medal for Uzbekistan came from Fazliddin Erkinboev, who triumphed in the 80 kg weight class by defeating Kazakhstan’s Erassyl Zhakpekov in the final.
In the heavyweight division (over 92 kg), Jahongir Zokirov secured the championship title after outclassing Kazakhstan’s Oibek Oralbay in the final match.
In the 48 kg category, Bekhruz Kholdorov fell short in the final against Bulgaria’s Ergunal Sabri, earning a silver medal.
Meanwhile, Javokhir Ummataliyev (75 kg) and Asilbek Jalilov (51 kg) took home bronze medals, further cementing Uzbekistan’s strong showing at the tournament.
