Uzbekistan’s agriculture production hits 14.168 trln. soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-September 2011 the total volume of agricultural output in Uzbekistan was 14.168 trillion soums, which grew by 6.8% year-on-year, of which output of plant-growing – 7.848 trillion soums (+6.5%) and that of animal husbandry – 6.32 trillion soums (+7.2%).

Plant-growing

In January-September 2011, the share of crop production in total agricultural output was 55.4%. According to the preliminary data as of 1 October 2011, the total sown area of agricultural crops for the yield of the current year in farms of all types was 3.589 million hectares.

The area under grains was 1.603 million hectares, cotton – 1.329 million hectares, forage crops – 308,200 hectares, vegetables – 174,300 hectares, and potatoes – 73,300 hectares.

Harvesting

As of 1 October 2011, farms of all types produced 6.862 million tonnes of grains, including 6.569 million tonnes of spiked cereal, 6.416 million tonnes of which are wheat. In the structure of grain production, wheat has the greatest share – 93.5%.

In the reporting period, the production of potatoes was 1,37 million tonnes, vegetables – 4.871 million tonnes, melons and gourds – 933,400 tonnes, fruit and berries – 1.256 million tonnes, and grapes – 723,200 tonnes.

Animal husbandry

In January-September 2011, the share of animal production in total agricultural output was 44.6%. As of 1 October 2011, the number of cattle increased by 534,800 heads (by 6%), of which cows – by 187,400 heads (by 5.1%), sheep and goats - by 714,900 heads (by 4.7%), poultry - by 4.933 million heads (14%).

Private farms

The output produced by private farms in January-September 2011 was 4.81 trillion soums or grew by 5.7% compared to the same period of 2010.

As of 1 October 2011, private farms had 500,400 heads of cattle, including 175,600 heads of cows, 1.189 million heads of sheep and goats, 5.041 million heads of poultry.

In comparison with January-September 2010, the number of cattle increased by 5,000 (1%), cows – by 6,100 (3.6%), sheep and goats – by 48,800 (4.3%), and poultry – by 961,000 (23.6%).
