Uzbekistan’s agriculture output makes up 9,822 trln. soums in 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-June 2012, the gross agricultural output in Uzbekistan made up 9.822 trillion soums or grew by 7.1% year-on-year, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Share of plant-growing made up 5.296 trillion soums (+7.1%) and animal husbandry – 4.525 trillion soums (+7.2%).

Plant-growing

In January-June 2012, the share of crop production in total agricultural output was 53.9%.

According to the preliminary data, as of 1 July the total sown area of agricultural crops for the yield of 2012 in farms of all types was 3.584 million hectares, which is 4,900 hectares less than in 2011.

The area under grains was 1.605 million hectares (2,200 hectares more than in 2011), cotton – 1.308 million hectares (21,400 hectares less), potatoes – 75,500 hectares (2,200 hectares more), vegetables – 182,500 hectares (8,200 hectares more), forage crops – 298,800 hectares (9,400 hectares less).

Harvesting

As of 1 July 2012, farms of all types produced 5.691 million tonnes of grains, including 5.682 million tonnes of spiked cereal, of which 5.589 million tonnes are wheat.

In the reporting period, the production of potatoes was 983,800 tonnes, vegetables – 1.917 million tonnes, melons and gourds – 120,900 tonnes, fruit and berries – 642,800 tonnes, and grapes – 17,600 tonnes.

Animal husbandry

In January-June 2012, the share of animal production in total agricultural output was 46.1%. As of 1 July 2012, the population of cattle increased by 571,900 heads (by 6.2%), including cows by 139,500 heads (3.7%), sheep and goats - by 585,800 heads (3.6%), poultry - by 5.628 million heads (14.7%).

In the total stock, the share of cattle in dekhkan farms was 93.8%, in private farms – 5.2%, cows – 94.7% and 4.5%, sheep and goats – 80.9% and 7.3%, pigs – 80.5% and 8.3%, poultry – 61.5% and 12.3% respectively.

In January-June 2012, farms of all types produced 777,600 tonnes of meat in living weight (7% more than in January-June 2011), 3.217 million tonnes of milk (7%), 1.936 billion eggs (16.8%), 15,300 tonnes of wool (5.4%), and 955,500 pieces of karakuls (5.2%).

The production of animal products (meat, milk, eggs) in all regions has mainly increased at the expense of dekhkan and private farms. The share of dekhkan farms in total production of meat was 94.9%, milk – 96%, and eggs – 55.2%.

Private farms

The output produced by private farms in January-June 2012 was 2.471 trillion soums or rose by 4.7% year-on-year.

As of 1 July 2012, the number of cattle in private farms has increased by 11,900 (by 2.4%), including cows by 6,500 (by 3.8%), sheep and goats – by 24,400 (by 2%), poultry – by 499,000 (by 10.2%).
