On 16 June, another set carrying 130 tonnes of humanitarian aid worth over 200 million soums has been rushed to refugee camps in Uzbekistan. It includes primarily medication and food – sugar, rice, flour, potatoes, noodles, cereals, tea, clean water, oil, disposable syringes, bandages, iodine, etc. A number of commercial bodies, companies, businesses, and international organizations such as GeoMax, Tethys Petroleum Limited as well as individuals joined the initiative.
Kelajak ovozi YIC volunteers have pitched in to collect and distribute products and medication in refugee camps set up by Uzbekistan in border areas in Andijan region.
At this point governmental and public organizations in Uzbekistan, international humanitarian institutions and the general public are working to provide comprehensive assistance for refugees from Kyrgyzstan, creating conditions to accommodate them and providing humanitarian assistance. The Fund Forum, Mehr nuri, the SISF, the Women’s Council are continuing to organize humanitarian aid and have set up a hot line for those willing to join in.
