Uzbekistan withdraws from Central Asian power grid
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan withdrew from Central Asian power grid on 1 December after it launched new power line.

The country launched new power line Guzar-Surkhon, which allows to supply electricity to Surkhandarya region directly. Earlier, Uzbekistan supplied the region with electricity via Tajikistan.

Uzbekistan said Tajikistan can direct freed electricity, which was supplied to Uzbekistan, to internal market.

Uzbekenergo said Tajikistan can receive electricity for needs of Sogd region on earlier set schemes.

The power line with the cost of US$93 million will also allow to increase export of electrivity to Afghanistan.
