Uzbekistan wants to access global markets via Azerbaijan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan intends to access global market through port in Azerbaijan, an article of Jahon news agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

The article said that the intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation for 2011-2015, signed in September 2010, created new opportunities for strengthening interaction in economic sphere.

Development and strengthening of cooperation and transport and transport-communication sector, effective use of huge transit potential of two states is perspective direction of mutual beneficial relations, the agency said.

In this context, transport routes from Central Asia through Caspian Sea and further through Caucasus to ports in Black and Mediterranean Seas are becoming actual issue, the agency reported.

Port of capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, can be important transport hub for Uzbekistan, which will allow to develop new perspective corridor Baku-Tbilisi-Kars with access to markets of Southern and Central Europe, as well as to Middle East and South and Soouthern-Eastern Asia through Mersin Port in Mediterranean Sea and Poti in Black Sea.
