Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 January 2025, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation outlining achievements and future goals for Uzbekistan’s electrical industry.
Currently, the sector accounts for 3.5% of total industrial output and 10% of the country’s exports.
In 2024, the industry produced goods worth 31 trillion soums and exported products valued at US$1.3 billion. Investments totaling US$516 million were utilized, and 85 new enterprises were established. Over 27,000 people are employed in this sector.
Following a video conference held on 5 September 2024, new opportunities for enhancing the industry’s efficiency were identified, leading to a series of tasks scheduled for this year.
The Chairman of the Uzbek Association of Electrical Industry "Uzeltekhsanoat" announced plans for 2025, including the launch of 290 new projects worth a total of US$4 billion, attracting US$600 million in investments, and increasing copper processing capacity to 75%.
Special attention has been given to the localization program, with US$75 billion worth of investment projects planned, of which US$28 billion will involve local components.
Additional land plots have been allocated to expand the electrical cluster: 200 hectares in Akhangaran, 10 hectares in Ferghana, and 4 hectares in Urgench.
Infrastructure valued at 181 billion soums has been developed for these areas.
Entrepreneurs will be allowed to build ready-made facilities in the technoparks and sell them to enterprises in the electrical and related industries. Tax incentives are also planned for high-tech manufacturers, including a three-year exemption from corporate income and property taxes.
These measures will create opportunities for new projects, such as: a US$68 million Akhangaran Copper Cluster and US$30 million projects in Kashkadarya, Ferghana, and Urgench.
To support product sales, a guaranteed market of 15 trillion soums will be created through procurement by ministries and industrial sectors. A system is being developed to prioritize purchases of renewable energy equipment for social infrastructure from local manufacturers.
The President emphasized the importance of the electrical industry in advancing the "green" economy and sustainable development, instructing officials to fully utilize local resources and offer entrepreneurs additional support for infrastructure, financing, and raw materials.
Officials noted that these measures could increase annual exports to US$3 billion and production volumes to 50 trillion soums.
Discussions also touched on fostering innovation, developing high-demand products, and training skilled specialists for the industry.
