Uzbekistan U-23 Falls to Japan in Second Round of Mirabror Usmanov Cup
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan U-23 national team suffered a 0–2 defeat to Japan in the second round of the international Mirabror Usmanov Cup.
The first half was evenly contested, with both sides focusing on ball control and avoiding risky play. Among the most notable players for the hosts were Bekhruz Askarov, Asilbek Jumayev, and Zafarmurod Abdirakhmatov, but their efforts failed to create serious chances in front of the opponent’s goal.
The breakthrough came in the 61st minute, when Japanese midfielder Yudai Shimamoto struck into the corner of Edem Nemanov’s net to put his team ahead. Despite several attempts by the Uzbek side to equalize, Japan’s defense held firm.
Pushing forward with greater numbers in the closing stages, Uzbekistan was caught on a swift counterattack in the 88th minute, when striker Alen Inoue doubled the visitors’ lead.
The match ended 0–2 in favor of Japan.
