Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan to create trade representations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan signed an intergovernmental agreement on setting up trade representations on a reciprocal basis.

The document was signed on 5 May 2011 within the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov to Uzbekistan.

Creation of trade representations will facilitate the establishment of a new scheme in expanding the bilateral cooperation in this sphere, and grant an opportunity for economic entities from the two countries to interact with each other directly on online regime.

That is, the scheme is to afford new convenience for customers and consumers in the two countries to conduct business dialogue, to reach mutual deals.

As earlier reported, Uzbekistan offered to create trade representations in February 2011 at the sixth session of the joint Uzbek-Turkmen commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and culture cooperation.

The trade turnover between countries has been increasing in last several years. The bilateral turnover has increased fourfold in the last four years and reached US$200 million in 2010.
