Uzbekistan Tourism Year kicks off in China

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  An official opening ceremony of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Year in China was held in Beijing.

The event, organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), showcased Uzbekistan’s tourism potential to China, reports the news agency "Dunyo."

The ceremony presented the latest reforms in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, highlighting the conditions and opportunities created for tourists. China’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Lu Inchuan, noted the growing appeal of Uzbekistan to Chinese tourists. UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili emphasized Uzbekistan’s high tourism potential and the organization’s readiness for further cooperation.

As part of the event, a business forum, presentations, B2B meetings, and a cultural program featuring Uzbek songs, dances, and a traditional dastarkhan were held.

Throughout the year, various cultural, tourism, and economic events, visits, and media coverage are planned in major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou.

The opening ceremony of the Tourism Year took place against the backdrop of the recent signing of an intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and China to lift visa requirements for citizens of both countries for stays of up to 30 days. This agreement, which will take effect after the completion of internal procedures, is expected to significantly simplify tourism travel.
