Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan became one of the countries where tourism actively developed in the period from 2019 to 2024. This is stated in a report on the state of the international tourism and travel market prepared by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
In addition to Uzbekistan, the list of countries with actively developing tourism includes Côte d’Ivoire, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Indonesia, UAE, Egypt, Nigeria and El Salvador.
The WEF also compiled a list of 10 countries that are most conducive to the development of the global tourism market. This list includes the USA, Spain, Japan, France, Australia, Germany, Great Britain, China, Italy and Switzerland.
According to the Tourism Development Index published by the WEF, Uzbekistan took 78th place, rising 16 positions compared to the previous ranking. The index covers 193 countries. Among neighboring countries, Kazakhstan ranks 52nd, Azerbaijan – 56th, Tajikistan – 99th, Kyrgyzstan – 112th.
The index was led by the USA, Spain and Japan.
WEF experts predict that in 2024 the international tourism market will reach pre-pandemic levels.
