Uzbekistan to start gas supplies to China from 1 Apr
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uztransgaz joint stock company is planning to start supplies of natural gas from 1 April 2012, the Russian media reported.

The company did not reveal the volume of gas, which will be delivered to China in 2012. The gas supplies will be conducted due to firm agreement, signed in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Uztransgaz and PetroChina International Company Limited, division of China National Petroleum Company (CNPC) signed a contract on gas supplies based on current international market prices at the end of 2011.

In June 2010, Uzbekneftegaz national holding company and CNPC signed a framework agreement on purchase of natural gas at the volume of 10 billion cubic meters a year. The gas will be transported through Central Asia – China gas pipeline.

Construction of Central Asia – China gas pipeline has been started in July 2008 and it was launched in December 2009. Total extension of gas pipeline, construction of which was started in July 2008, makes up 7000 km. The extension of pipeline in Turkmenistan makes up 188 km, Uzbekistan – 525 km, Kazakhstan – 1,293 km and China – 4,860 km. The second line was launched on 20 October 2010. The third line will be commissioned by 2014.

Uztransgaz joint stock company is a subsidiary of Uzbekneftegaz national holding company.
