Uzbekistan to speed up infrastructure development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov approved a programme on speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction for 2011-2015.

Uzbek leader signed a resolution “On speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction for 2011-2015” on 21 December 2010.

The document was adopted to ensure fast development of industries of production, transport and engineer-communication infrastructure in close cooperation with implemented programmes of perspectives of developing industries of economy and territories of the country, as well as creation of jobs and live standards of population.

Main priorities of developing infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015 are:

  • Developing and constructing transport communication, modern telecommunication system, objects of engineer infrastructure on the base of expansion of attracting foreign and internal financing resources, modern technologies, updating construction and industrial production complexes;
  • Speeding up implementation of projects on creation of single national automobile transport system, reliably connecting all regions of Uzbekistan, expanding construction and reconstruction of four-lane roads, part of the Uzbek national highway with modern cement concrete and asphalt concrete pavements, meeting international standards, reconstruction of road through Kamchik pass;
  • Fast developing and modernizing railway transport in Uzbekistan, reconstructing railroads, constructing and launching high speed railway road Tashkent-Samarkand, electrification of railroad from Bukhara to Qarshi, modernizing rolling-stocks with highly productive locomotives, cargo and passenger wagons;
  • Further developing and strengthening material-technical base of aviation transportation through cardinal modernization of aircraft fleet with modern, comfortable and economic airplanes of Boeing and Airbus production, organizing of their maintenance, constructing and reconstructing airports in Tashkent city and regional centers of Uzbekistan and increasing cargo transportation, including transit transportation, improving level and quality, as well as security of air passenger transportation;
  • Modernizing and speeding up development of modern telecommunication networks and establishments, developing mobile communication and broadband data transfer networks, step-by-step transition to digital television in the region of Uzbekistan;
  • Further improving system on organization and management of transportation, creating modern effective transport-transit infrastructure, meeting international requirements and standards, ensuring association of transport service via various transport means – automobile, railway and aviation, strengthening material technical base and improving efficiency of intermodal logistic centers in Angren city and at Navoi airport;
  • Forming new transport corridors, ensuring short access to international transport communications and increasing transit transportations, expanding access to regional and global markets, increasing efficient use of export potential and expanding supply markets of local producers;
  • Constructing and reconstructing roadside infrastructure objects and services at national highway and railroads, creating conditions in line with international standards for participants of road and railway, forming new jobs and increasing employment of population;
  • Purchasing modern road construction equipment for reconstruction and development of the Uzbek national highway, introducing modern construction technologies, equipment and quality materials;
  • Expanding construction, modernization and reconstruction in regions of Uzbekistan, especially in rural areas, engineering-communication networks – water supply, sewerage and electrification and others, increasing level and quality of water and electricity supply to population, improving sanitary-epidemiological situation in cities and rural points;
  • Gradual decreasing production expenses and prime cost at construction and exploitation of production infrastructure, transport and communication through introduction of modern energy and resource saving technologies, ensuring economic use of raw materials, materials and energy resources.
Uzbek President also exempted equipment, raw materials, spare parts, technological documentation and others, which are not produced in Uzbekistan and imported within investment projects of the programme, from customs payments (except custom registration fees) till 1 January 2016.
