Uzbekistan to simplify procedure for purchase and sale of foreign currency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Central Bank of Uzbekistan plans to simplify the procedure for purchase and sale of foreign currency by legal entities and individuals, as well as to increase the availability of banking operations in 2018. This is stated in the message of the regulator.

The Central Bank intends to introduce a mechanism for remote conduct of operations for purchase and sale of foreign currency. The regulator said that citizens will be able to carry out transactions for purchase of foreign currency through mobile applications of the commercial banks.

Also, measures will be taken to permit withdrawal of cash foreign currency from conversion payment cards within the country with expansion of the network of the corresponding ATMs.

In 2018, the rigid monetary policy will continue, aimed primarily at preventing the influence of monetary factors on inflation. At the same time, taking into account the needs of the economy in loans, in 2018, it is envisaged to keep the growth rates of the money supply within the range of 12-14%.

Along with this, active work will continue to create the necessary conditions for a gradual transition to the inflation targeting regime in the medium term.

The Central bank plans to develop mid-term concept for development and implementation of monetary policy in cooperation with IMF’s technical mission in the first quarter of 2018.

The introduction of innovative banking technologies will be intensified to create conditions for rendering modern banking services, including the organization of the activities of "digital" banks and banking units specialized in providing retail services, improving remote banking services, and further developing the payment system.

Particular attention will be paid to ensuring protection of rights and legitimate interests of consumers of banking services by conducting inspections of the compliance of financial services with mandatory requirements, increasing financial accessibility for population and business entities and their level of financial literacy.

New editions of the laws of Uzbekistan “On the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “On Banks and Banking Activities” and “On Currency Regulation” will be developed in 2018.
