"With the aim of stepping up democratic reforms in the country and helping NGOs to take an active part in this process, a public foundation on supporting NGOs and other institutions of civil society, as well as a parliamentary commission on managing the foundation’s funds will be set up under the Uzbek Oliy Majlis [parliament]," said the law published by the newspaper on 18 December.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed the law on 17 December.
