Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the regular plenary meeting of the Senate, the Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility, aimed at combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and their analogues” was discussed or psychotropic substances, as well as potent and toxic substances.”

During the discussion, it was noted that Uzbekistan is taking systematic measures to combat illicit trafficking in drugs, their analogues, psychotropic and potent substances. Due to the increase in cases of illicit trafficking of these substances, including the use of Internet networks and telecommunications networks, a review of penalties for these crimes is required.

The law is aimed at toughening penalties for distributing or advertising materials that illegally promote drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances, as well as potent substances. The document stipulates increased liability for drug trafficking via the Internet and bringing to criminal and administrative liability those involved in these criminal acts, including minors.

The senators emphasized that this legislation is aimed at preventing the distribution and advertising of narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances, as well as strengthening the fight against illicit trafficking in these substances.

Following the discussion, the Law was approved by the senators.
