Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On approving the main technical and economic parameters of a feasibility study on investment projects “Expansion of the backbone and multiservice data transmission network” in terms of digital radio relay equipment and “Modernization of switching centers using IMS technology (IP Multimedia Subsystem)”.
According to the document, Uzbekistan will send US$38 million for implementation of investment projects "Expansion of the backbone and multi-service data network" and "Modernization of switching centers using IMS technology (IP Multimedia Subsystems)".
The project will be financed by loans from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (US$24.2 million) and commercial bank SMBC (US$4.3 million).
Uzbekistan will allocate US$8.5 million in concessions on customs payments, another US$1 million - own funds of Uzbektelecom.
The Japanese company Toyota Tsusho Corporation won the tender for the project. Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Uzbektelecom concluded a contract worth US$28.48 million.
The projects envisage the launch of 23,886 x E1 ports for the gateway, the total capacity of the transit switching network will be 701,500 simultaneous connections.
The capacity on eight spans of the transport network based on radio relay lines is planned to be expanded to 2xSTM + 1GE.
