Economy 20/12/2007 Uzbekistan to raise liquefied gas excise to 26% in 2008
Excise for A-76 and Ai-80 gasoline will be 148,000 soums per tonne, excise for Ai-91, Ai-92, and Ai-93 will be 163,000 soums per tonne, excise for Ai-95 gasoline will be 188,000 soums, diesel excise will be 130,000 soums per tonne, and excise for aviation kerosene will be 18,700 soums per tonne.

The excise rates can be reviewed during the year based on changes in prices and production volumes, he said. Uzbekistan will not change the subsurface resource tax for hydrocarbon production for oil (20%), gas condensate (20%), and natural gas (30%).The excise for natural gas will remain at 25%.

The excise for gasoline produced in Uzbekistan was set at 28%, 25% for diesel fuel, and 8% for aviation kerosene. Uzbekistan is one of the top ten gas producing countries in the world.

Uzbekneftegaz, the oil and gas monopoly, can produce 58 billion - 59 billion cubic meters a year and 8 million tonnes of liquid hydrocarbons a year. The company cut oil and gas condensate production by 7.5% in the first nine months of the year to 3.7 million tonnes, according to official statistics.

Gas condensate production dropped 4.7% to 1.37 million tonnes and oil production was down 8.1% to 2.332 million tonnes. Gasoline production grew 5% in the period to 1.057 million tonnes, kerosene production dropped 4.2% to 240,500 tonnes, diesel production grew 0.8% to 1.069 million tonnes, heating oil production was down 20% to 541,100 tonnes, petroleum asphalt production was up 16.3% to 180,200 tonnes, and production of liquefied petroleum gas was up 6.9% to 174,000 tonnes.
