Uzbekistan to Open Trade Houses in the U.S. to Boost Clothing Exports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to open two trade houses in the United States — in St. Louis and New York — to increase exports of ready-made garments to the American market. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the initiative during a video conference dedicated to utilizing the export potential and reserves of the textile industry.
It was noted that the U.S. textile market is valued at nearly USD 100 billion annually, and with the implementation of additional support measures, Uzbekistan’s exports could increase five to six times.
To expand supply volumes, the Agency for Technical Regulation has been tasked with increasing the number of enterprises holding international certificates to 300.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will develop a “roadmap” for cooperation with brands generating over US$1 billion in annual turnover and invite them to a major exhibition in Tashkent scheduled for September.
