Uzbekistan to mark Id al-Fitr on 21 September

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a resolution to announce Wednesday, 16 September 2009, as day off in Uzbekistan.

In line with the resolution, the Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan notified that the first day of Id al-Fitr falls on 21 September 2009. This day is to be declared a day off and widely celebrated across the country as a holiday.

Id al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
