Uzbekistan to mark 2,500th anniversary of Andijan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is developing a programme of measures on holding ceremonies dedicated to the 2,500th anniversary of Andijan city, eastern Uzbekistan.

The programme is developed in line with the order of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, which he gave during his visit to Andijan region on 30 September-1 October 2011.

Based on order of the President, Cabinet of Ministers adopted an action plan to implement orders of the President, which he gave during visit to Andijan region.

These measures are directed at developing industrial potential and social infrastructure, improving architectural look and accomplishment of settlements, as well as improving life standards.

The programme on holding ceremonies dedicated to the 2,500th anniversary of Andijan region should be prepared by 15 November 2011.

Within the action plan, it is planned to develop general plan, which will determine location of Andijan city center, construction of Central Square and Forum’s Palace.

By 1 December 2011, the government will prepare proposals on construction of small ring roads within the city and large ring roads outside Andijan city.

It is also planned to speed up implementation of programme for development of communal infrastructure in housing estates of Andijan region for 2011-2015 and complete its implementation in 2014.

The document also envisages development of general plan for development of Asaka city, which will stipulate development of its industrial potential, production and social infrastructure, accomplishment and change of external look of the city.

The action plan also stipulates preparation of proposals on specialization of Asaka district and part of Andijan district to horticulture and vegetable-growing to improve food supply to Andijan and Asaka, as well as export of fruits and vegetable.
