Uzbekistan to launch production of calcium storage batteries
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to implement two projects in 2011-2013 to develop production of storage batteries for automobiles.

These projects will be realized within the programme on priorities of industry development in Uzbekistan in 2011-2015.

In particular, Uzbekistan will launch production of calcium storage batteries in Jizzakh city in 2011. The project cost is US$9.5 million. The capacity of the plant will be 800,000 units a year.

In line with the programme, Jizzakh Battery Plant open joint stock company is planning to commission production of storage batteries for new models of cars, produced at GM Uzbekistan, in 2012-2013.

The project is currently under development now. The forecasted cost of the project is US$1 million. It is expected that the plant will produce 100,000 sets of batteries a year.

Jizzakh Battery Plant with charter capital of 74.2 million soums was founded in March 2010 on the base of UzExcide, an Uzbek-US venture. The venture was announced bankrupt in 2009 by Jizzakh regional economic court.

The shares of newly created enterprise were placed among creditors of the enterprise in accordance with the volume of the credit volume.

UzAvtoSanoat holds 79.69% in Jizzakh Battery Plant, Asaka Bank – 12.19%, Markaziy Kombinat – 5.75% and GM Uzbekistan – 1.9%.
