Uzbekistan to invest US$5.425 billion to development of power industry in 2011-2015
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to invest US$5.425 billion soums to development power industry of the country in 2011-2015, the first deputy chairperson of Uzbekenergo state joint stock company Bakhodir Abdurakhmanov said at the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council.

Uzbekenergo developed a programme on priority development of power industry of the country in 2011-2015. The programme includes about 45 projects with total cost of US$5.435 billion.

Within the programme, Uzbekenergo will implement 15 projects worth US$3.6 billion in heat-and-power engineering in five years. The projects will allow to commission 2,243 megawatt of additional capacities.

The company will also realize projects on modernization and development of hydro power with increase capacity for 160 megawatt.

The programme also includes 15 projects on development of power networks for US$590 million. Within the projects, it is planned to construct 1,011 km of power lines and substations for 2,118 mega-voltampere.

Uzbekenergo also plans to realize project on reconstruction and modernization of electricity distribution networks of the capacity of 0.3-34 kilovolt, 5 projects on introduction of automated system of commercial accounting electricity, pilot project on wind power facility and others.
