Uzbekistan to introduce mandatory energy marking for home appliances
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to introduce a system of mandatory energy marking and certification of energy consumption figures of home appliances and newly constructed buildings and structures stage-by-stage.

The draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan “On stage-by-stage introduction of the system on mandatory energy marking and certification of energy consumption figures of home appliances and newly constructed buildings and structures in the republic” was published at the Single interactive state services portal.

According to the draft resolution, Uzbekistan is planning to introduce mandatory demand for energy marking and information on energy efficiency class in technical documentation and labels of home appliances.

In line with the requirement, the home appliances should have labels of energy efficiency of such classes A, B, C, D, E, F and G. The class A means the most energy efficient device, while G – the lowest energy efficient device.

The document envisages additional classes of energy efficiency as A+ and A++, which can be used for the devices, energy efficiency of which is higher than A class.

The requirement will be applied to refrigerators and freezers, household and laundering washing machines, air conditioners and fans, household electric ranges, microwave ovens, dishwashers, TVs, electric water heaters, heating electrical appliances and lamps.

The document said that Uzbekistan will ban import from 1 January 2016 and sales from 1 July 2016 of home appliances, which have no information on class of energy efficiency. The marks should be included in technical documentation of home appliances and their labels.

At the same time, home appliances, placed to “temporary storage” and “customs warehouse” customs regime till 1 September 2015, can be released to free circulation and realization of retail trade up to 1 July 2016.

Uzbekistan also plans to ban import and sales of home appliances of G energy efficiency class from 1 January 2018, F class – from 1 January 2019 and E class – from 1 January 2020.

The realization and storage of home appliances without information on class of energy efficiency will be considered as violation of trade rules (realization of goods without documents) and necessary measures will be adopted in line with the legislation, the draft resolution said.
