Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is set to implement an ambitious program to equip residential homes and businesses with solar panels, as reported by the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office.

During a meeting chaired by the president on January 27, the allocation of 2 trillion soums to incentivize the installation of solar panels and water heaters was discussed. Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov emphasized that at least 50% of the roofs of buildings would be dedicated to solar installations.

Deputy General Prosecutor Shokhrukh Aminov highlighted that by 2025, at least 40% of the energy consumption in the private sector, small businesses, and social facilities should be covered by alternative energy sources. He assured that this goal would be fully achieved.

On 28 January, Aminov held an expanded meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Coordination and Organization of State Control over the Use of Fuel and Energy Resources. The meeting focused on measures to prevent the illegal expenditure of energy resources and issues related to energy conservation.

As part of the meeting, plans were announced to install solar panels on 100,000 facilities and 150,000 private homes, in line with the president’s directive. To ensure the implementation of this task and monitor progress, working groups will be formed, including representatives from local hokimiyats, customs authorities, Uzenergoinspektsiya, commercial banks, energy supply companies, and other organizations. These groups will oversee the installation process, address emerging issues promptly, and ensure the project is completed on time.

In addition, a schedule will be developed to identify additional energy-saving reserves in different districts, reactive power compensation units will be installed for large consumers, electricity metering systems will be upgraded to a two-level consumption control system, and energy audits will be conducted for the 400 largest enterprises in the country.

Moreover, plans include replacing non-standard gas burners with more energy-efficient models.
