Uzbekistan to install 12 digital transmitters till 2015
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to install 12 digital transmitters in the regions of the country by 2015.

In line with the resolution of the Uzbek President “On speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015” adopted measures on further stage-by-stage transfer to digital television in the regions of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan plans to commission two digital transmitters in Ferghana and Kashkadarya regions in 2011 and two more digital transmitters in Navoi and Surkhandarya regions in 2012.

Digital transmitters will be installed in Jizzakh and Samarkand regions in 2013 and in Karakalpakstan Republic, Bukhara and Khorezm regions in 2014.

Uzbekistan plans to cover some remote rural areas with digital television in 2015.

It is also planned that Uzbekistan will launch production of first TV soap operas and programmes in High-Definition (HD) format in 2011.

Soap operas and programmes in HD format will improve quality of images and launch move to High Definition TV.

Uzbekistan plans to introduce digital television in DVB-T T (Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial) standard by the end of 2015.

Currently, 36 state and commercial channels are broadcasted in MPEG-4/DVB format in pilot zones in Tashkent and six of thirteen regions of Uzbekistan.
