President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on further raising financial sustainability of commercial banks and develop their resource bases” on 6 May 2015, which envisages measures on developing cashless payments with use of banking cards.

According to the Central Bank, currently 163,000 retail trade and service enterprises have POS-terminals to process payments with banking cards.

According to the resolution, number of issued banking cards will be increased to 14 million units by the end of 2015. Currently, there are about 14 million banking cards in circulation in Uzbekistan.
