Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan has issued a decree on holding the Aral Cultural Summit at a high level.

According to the document, starting in 2025, the summit will be held every 18 months, either in autumn or spring.

The inaugural event is set to take place from 4 to 6 April 2025, in Samarkand and Nukus, coinciding with the Samarkand Climate Forum.

One of the summit’s key objectives is to establish an international platform for discussing environmental challenges faced by the Aral Sea region and other parts of the world, as well as developing effective solutions to address these issues.

An Organizing Committee will be formed to oversee the preparation and execution of the event.

Uzbekistan first proposed the idea of the Aral Cultural Summit at the UN Water Conference, held in New York from 22 to 24 March 2023.
