Uzbekistan to expand external Internet channel up to 40 Gbps in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbektelecom joint stock company will continue work on decreasing tariffs for internet services (external channel) for ISPs and increasing capacity of international channel.

Director-General of Uzbektelecom Mahsum Mahmudov said that, the company plans to increase capacity of international channel by four times to 40 Gbps.

Mahmudov underlined that this, in its turn, will help to decrease tariffs for internet services for ISPs.

He underlined that Uzbektelecom expanded external internet channel four times in 2011 to 10 Gpbs. At the same time, the prices for ISPs were decreased almost 1.7 times.

He said that this allowed ISPs to decrease Internet subscription prices for population by 22%.
