Uzbekistan to expand barite concentrate production
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan adopted measures to expand barite raw base and increase production of barite concentrate. Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed on 12 November a resolution “On expanding barite raw base and increasing production of barite concentrate”.

The document was adopted for further expanding barite raw base due to exploitation of existing and preparing of new barite deposits for industrial production and in the result, increasing barite concentrate production, ensuring replacing of imported barite with locally produced for oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan.

In line with the resolution, the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan will carry out geologic survey at perspectives fields - Oraylyk, Agata, Kichi-Arsagan, Karakiya, Guldurama in 2010-2014. It is expected that barite ores, mined from these fields, will be processed in Almalyk city, Tashkent region, where processing capacities up to 15,000 tonnes a year will be organization.

Starting from 2010, the production of barite concentrate will be organized in Almalyk. The plant will produce 15,000 of barite concentrate a year from ores used at Sarybulak and Kushrabad fields.

Uzbekneftegaz national holding company will finance production of barite ore from Sarybulak field and experimental-industrial production at the perspectives fields - Oraylyk, Agata, Kichi-Arsagan, Karakiya, Gulduram with the production of barite concentrate.
